Word count
Get a live count of characters (with and without spaces), Chinese characters, English words, lines and UTF-8 byte length. Ideal for copywriting, social-media posts, essays, cover letters, or anywhere with a word or character limit. A Chinese character is usually 3 UTF-8 bytes — useful for systems or database fields with byte limits.
How are Chinese characters counted?
The tool counts CJK ideographs (i.e. ordinary Chinese characters). Punctuation and spaces are not counted under 'Chinese characters' but are included in the total character count.
How is an English word defined?
An English word is a run of letters or digits (it may include a hyphen or apostrophe, e.g. well-known, it's). Spaces and punctuation separate words.
What's the difference between characters and bytes?
Characters count what you see (one Chinese character = 1 character); bytes is the UTF-8 encoded length, where a Chinese character is usually 3 bytes — useful for systems or database fields with byte limits.
Text cleaner
Text copied from PDFs, emails, PowerPoint or web pages often arrives with stray spaces, odd line breaks and blank lines. The cleaner fixes it in one pass: trim each line, collapse repeated spaces, remove blank lines, convert full-width spaces to half-width, and optionally merge all line breaks into a single paragraph. Every option toggles independently and only whitespace is touched — never your actual words.
What does the text cleaner do?

Does it change my content?
No. It only adjusts whitespace, blank lines and line breaks — it never edits, removes or adds actual words. You can toggle each option individually.

Traditional ↔ Simplified converter
Convert between Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong character forms) and Simplified Chinese in one click, powered by the open-source OpenCC dictionary, which handles common phrase differences as well as character-by-character mapping. Handy for turning Hong Kong documents into Simplified for mainland partners, or converting mainland material back to Traditional. Because the mapping is one-to-many in places (e.g. 干 → 干 / 乾 / 幹), proper nouns and special contexts may still warrant a manual check.
How accurate is the conversion?
It uses the open-source OpenCC dictionary, handling common phrase differences as well as character-by-character mapping. Because Traditional↔Simplified has one-to-many cases (e.g. 干 / 乾 / 幹), some proper nouns or context-specific characters may still need a manual check.
Does it use Taiwan or Hong Kong wording?
Traditional output uses the Hong Kong (hk) character standard; Simplified uses Mainland China (cn). The tool focuses on character conversion and does not rewrite vocabulary into regional terms.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The dictionary loads into your browser and all conversion happens locally; the text is never sent to a server.
